About

Hi, I'm Vanessa.

Registered nurse, doula, and founder of Bringing Home Baby. For over six years I've cared for mothers and newborns — and I created this practice so that support doesn't have to end at the hospital door.

"Can I take you home with me?"

Before becoming a doula, I spent over six years as a registered nurse — three years caring for premature babies and babies who needed intensive care in the NICU, and the rest caring for mothers and newborns on the postpartum unit. As families prepared for discharge, so many mothers asked me the same question: "Can I take you home with me?"

I understood why. A mother often leaves the hospital exhausted, still recovering, and holding a brand-new baby — and is told to follow up in six weeks. But what happens during those six weeks? That question is a big reason I created Bringing Home Baby. I believe families deserve continuity of care beyond discharge.

When the journey home looks different

My NICU and postpartum experience gave me particular insight into feeding and infant care. I've cared for families whose babies arrived early, needed extra medical support, or spent time apart from their parents. I know that bringing your baby home doesn't always look like the picture you imagined — and that there's no single right way to be a new mother.

Bringing back the village

Many families, especially here in Los Angeles, live far from the grandparents, siblings, and friends who once surrounded new parents. Sometimes our village didn't come with us. I want to be part of yours.

My care is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and evidence-informed. Whether I'm answering questions, caring for your baby while you rest, or simply reminding you that you're doing better than you think, my goal is the same: to support your well-being and help you grow into this new role with confidence.

What my care is — and isn't: I come to you as a doula, not as a nurse. The support I provide at home is non-medical — emotional, physical, and practical — and I'll always tell you plainly when something needs a clinician's attention.

Welcome to your village. I'm so glad you're here.
